Sahar Tarighi was born in Shno, Rojhelat, Iranian Kurdistan. Growing up in both Kurdistan, a land of wonderful nature, vibrant dance, music, and crafts, and in a family with a great interest in art, her love of the art grew. This interest was nurtured during her formative years and further flourished when she decided to pursue her academic education in the field of art.

Sahar earned her Associate’s Degree in Visual Arts, a BA in Crafts, and an MA in Painting from Iran. She is a multidisciplinary artist, and her work has been showcased in numerous solo and group exhibitions in the UK, South Korea, Iran, Turkey, Russia, and the US.

Currently, Sahar is a ceramics instructor and an MFA candidate majoring in Ceramics at the University of Delaware. She is the recipient of several grants, including the Competitive Counter Offer Award and the Center for Material Culture Studies Graduate Research Grant Award (CMCS) from the University of Delaware.

Sahar has also been awarded the TCN Fellowship to the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts and the New Wave Scholarship from A-B Projects. Recently, Sahar has been granted a scholarship to participate in a summer 2023 workshop at the Penland School of Craft, along with a full residency scholarship award for 2023 from Watershed.
